James Dondero Launches A $1 Million Grant Challenge

Recently, Highland Capital announced the launch of a $1 million grant challenge. James Dondero made this announcement, which is expected to help the Family Place achieve its goal of raising 16.5 million through its Legacy Campaign. He was speaking at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas during the Annual Texas Trailblazer Awards Luncheon. James Dondero is Highland Capital’s co-founder and president. The Family Place organized the event.

The Legacy Campaign is in its final stages of raising the money it needs to build a rescue center for victims of family violence in the city. Currently, the remaining amount is $2.8 million. The center will provide the victims with health care, shelter, and counseling services. It is expected to serve over 2,000 victims annually. The center will be known as Ann Moody Place, in honor of Ann Moody. Learn more about James Dandero: http://thedallasjournal.org/the-career-achievements-of-james-dondero/

The grant challenge will see Highland Capital Management match every additional $200,000 raised with $100,000 to the tune of $ 1 million. The challenge will run until April 4, 2017, to provide enough time for other members of Dallas community to participate.

The money dedicated to the challenge will be administered through Highland Dallas Foundation, which is Highland capital’s philanthropic arm. It has been involved in many charitable causes. The company’s involvement will ensure that the Legacy Campaign finishes on a strong note.

Dondero also used the opportunity to invite Dallas’ civic community to participate in the drive. He pointed out that the drive was aimed at solving a life-threatening issue in Dallas and each party should be involved in ensuring that The Family Place’s goal is met. Dallas Chief of Police, David Brown and Mayor Mike Rawling echoed his call.
