Dr. Blangslonny currently has about 270 peers reviewed publications with over 25,000 citations that have brought awareness to his medical and scientific research findings. One of the other things Mikhail Blagosklonny known for is his seat as editor-in-chief of the Onctarget, Cell Cycle, and other publications.
Education and Degrees
Mr. Mikhail Blagosklonny attended college in Russia earning his medical degrees at the University of St. Petersburg, Russia. Mikhail Blagosklonny earned an M.D. degree in internal medicine. He then went on to earn a Ph.D. in experimental medicine and cardiology at the same University.
Mikhail Blagosklonny has taken positions in both the teaching and scientific settings. He took a position at the New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York in 2002. At this college the position Mr. Blagosklonny held was an associate professor of medicine. In another position the doctor worked in a position with the title of senior scientist. This position was held at Ordway Research Institute, Albany New York. Afterward in 2009 he went to work for Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He was appointed to hold the title professor of oncology at the Roswell Institute.
Through his scientific research that was focused on cancer and aging he believes rapamycin is important. The drug is an anti-cancer drug with properties that also helps with anti-aging and it showed proof it could slow tumor growth. He considers rapamycin to be a drug that could extend life. As another focus of his scientific research, he studied the mechanisms of aging, which helped show how this drug may be beneficial. After taking the position at Roswell Park Cancer Institute he claimed he would be teaching the new generation of future cancer researchers. However what he studied in his position as a scientist helped to develop cancer drugs and non-genotoxic compounds to suppress aging diseases.During his career in teaching positions, writing and scientific research it has included molecular biology, cellular biology, cell cycle, anti-cancer therapeutics, tumor suppressors and clinical investigations. In this research, Mr. Blagosklonny formed the hypothesis that shows a potential connection with TOR signaling. This signaling is within aging and cancer along with the use of anti-cancer drugs like rapamycin.
